
Taboos in tool selection
Avoid using passivated tools: blunt tools will cause friction and heat rise, which may cause magnesium chips to burn
Steel tools are prohibited: carbide tools (such as YG) are preferred, as their high temperature resistance can reduce the risk of sparks
Back angle design taboos: the tool needs to be ground with a larger back angle (recommended ≥12°) to reduce the contact surface with the workpiece to dissipate heat

Chip management: It is strictly forbidden to pile up magnesium chips, and an explosion-proof vacuum system must be used for real-time cleaning
It is prohibited to mix magnesium chips with other metal debris (separated by sealed steel barrels)
Coolant selection: Flammable liquids (such as oil-based cutting fluids) are prohibited, and mineral oil or water-soluble coolants are recommended
Fire emergency: It is strictly forbidden to use water/CO₂ to extinguish fires in case of combustion, and a Class D dry powder fire extinguisher must be used
