An American defense contractor tasked us with machining a magnesium alloy heat sink for a portable military communication station. The part included over 60 fins, each under 0.5 mm thick, designed to provide efficient heat dissipation in extreme field conditions. The required surface finish (Ra) was 0.8 µm, ensuring smooth heat transfer and preventing heat build-up that could compromise performance.
