CNC Aerospace Machining: Titanium, Aluminum, Inconel Materials

DALLE 2025-03-29 103615 - A collection of aerospace-grade materials used in aircraft manufacturing including titanium alloys aluminum alloys high-temperature superalloys st

The processing materials of aviation parts need to have high strength, light weight, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and other characteristics to adapt to the complex aviation environment. The following are common processing materials for aviation parts:

1. Titanium Alloys
Features: Lightweight, high strength, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance
Applications: Structural parts, landing gear, engine parts
       Common models:

Ti-6Al-4V (most commonly used, taking into account both strength and heat resistance)

Ti-5Al-2.5Sn (good high temperature stability)

Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo (used for engine blades)

2. Aluminum Alloys
Features: Lightweight, good thermal conductivity, high corrosion resistance
       Applications: Fuselage, wings, skin, brackets
       Common models:

7075-T6 (high strength, suitable for load-bearing structures)

2024-T3 (good fatigue resistance, often used for fuselage skin)

6061-T6 (moderate strength, strong corrosion resistance)

3. Superalloys
Features: High temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, creep resistance
Application: aircraft engines, combustion chambers, turbine blades
       Common models:

Inconel 718 (nickel-based alloy, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance)

Hastelloy X (high temperature oxidation resistance, suitable for combustion chambers)

Waspaloy (suitable for turbine disks)

4. Stainless Steel
Features: high strength, corrosion resistance, wear resistance
       Application: fasteners, hydraulic systems, bearings
       Common models:

17-4PH (high strength, corrosion resistance)

15-5PH (high toughness, suitable for high stress parts)

A286 (high temperature resistant stainless steel)

5. Composite Materials
Features: light weight, high specific strength, fatigue resistance
      Application: fuselage skin, wings, doors
      Common types:

Carbon fiber reinforced composite materials (CFRP) (lightweight, suitable for main structures)

Glass fiber reinforced composite materials (GFRP) (impact resistant, suitable for doors and interior parts)

6. High-Strength Alloy Steel
Features: High strength, impact resistance, good machinability
      Applications: Landing gear, structural parts
      Common models:

4340 (impact resistance, suitable for landing gear)

300M (ultra-high strength steel, suitable for key load-bearing structures)

These materials are widely used in aviation manufacturing, combined with different processes (such as CNC processing, 3D printing, etc.), to continuously optimize the lightweight, durability and safety of aircraft.
